Your Library Card
Getting a card, renewing materials, placing holds, etc.
Residents
| Adults | Any adult in good standing with the library with proof of residency |
| Teens | Any teen 16 in good standing with the library with proof of residency and age |
| Child |
Any school aged child who can sign her name with guardian or parental permission

Non-Residents
Residents of adjacent counties may get a card with the same privileges as stated above with the exception of Interlibrary Loan privileges.
Visitors staying within Essex County may get a temporary guest card with proper identification. This card allows them to borrow up to 3 items.
How to Get Your Card
You must come to the library to get a card. Please bring proof of address, and if you are a teen between 16 and 18, proof of age with you.
Logging into your account
From the home page click the Access My Account button. Click on Essex Public Library. In the upper right hand corner is a login button. Click that. Your user name will be your 9 diget library bar code number located on the back of your library card. Your password will be the 7 digit telephone number you gave us when you applied for your card. To change your password you must come to the library in person with proof of identification.
Borrowing Limits
| Adults | 25 items, 10 may be DVDs, Videos or music CDs and up to 3 Interlibrary Loan items |
| Under 18 |
10 items, 10 may be DVDs, Videos or music CDs and up to 3 Interlibrary Loan items |
| Guest | 3 items but no Interlibrary Loans |

Library Fines
5 cents a day for books and audio books
25 cents a day for DVDs, Videos and Music CDs
