Alan Pell Crawford - October 2008

Our weekend with Mr. Crawford began with a prime rib/crab cake dinner at Lowry’s and for a special treat we had a wine tasting from Vault Field, the newest winery on the Chesapeake Bay Wine trail. Mr. Crawford held the audience rapt with attention and spent quite a while answering questions about Jefferson, Monticello, the stock market, etc. We sold every one of Mr Crawford’s books we had available and recruited several new members to the Friends of the Library.
Saturday after breakfast at the inn, Mr. Crawford led a writer’s workshop. The focus was on how the publishing industry works. The topic proved fascinating for both aspiring writers and those just interested in books in general. The audience also enjoyed advising Mr. Crawford on his next topic for research.
An intimate dinner was held Saturday night at the inn where the guests had further time to share with the author.
Sunday folks all headed towards home elated after spending the weekend with their “literary rock star”.
